I have been looking the 3d marks of the G1, and I'm anything but impressed. It scores ('05) ~4200, while X1600 or Go 7600 get ~3800.
    So, is it worthy?

probably not. So you probably don't want to be factoring that into your buying options, and focus on other specs (like say between an a8js and an a8jm, focus on the core duo/core 2 duo difference)

Its better than the Go7600 which is more or less what Nvidia was trying to replace. Its just a refresh of a powerful card, offering more power to users who will be buying at the time, similar to the 7900GTXs upgrade to the 7950GTX. It is by no means a card that was meant for someone to get rid of their current notebook in favor of one with that card, and it currently has too much hype on it.

I agree the 7700 has to much hype. This maybe my own opinion, but I consider, like many others here, the 7700 a mid range gfx card, which it is. Meaning, it can handle newer and current games decently low-mid settings, which is playable. However, I don't really consider it a true gaming card. I would consider the 7950GTX a true gaming card though.

The 76/7700 or x16/1700 will play any games on the market currently on almost all high settings.

Take a look at the GPU Guide for more info. The 7950GTX is indeed a gaming card (the most powerful mobile card out currently) but it's only available in 17 inch laptops while the 7700 can be found in 14.1.

I would not worry about 7700 vs 7600--as mentioned earlier it is mainly a refresh. Focus on other things. Either card will serve you well in games.

I, too, play modern games with a G1. The 7700 can, in my experience, play in the highest setting.

From what I've read here, the Go7700 is only a small percentage higher than the x1700 in all bechmarks, and the ATI requires less voltage to operate.

the 7600 gt is faster than the 7700 go. It is only in the sony AR

They are the same card exactly except

    7700 has 512 mb
it is made with a smaller die process

the core is set higher on the 7600 gt

the 7600 gt uses ddr 3 ram which can go higher

a few games have the recomended specs of 7600 gt. not x1600 or um 7600 gs or something but 7600 gt. You can pretty much say the 7700 is about the same thing

Stamar, the MSI MS-16332 also has a 7600GT. The GT version has a higher core speed as you posted. It also has a higher fill rate. The memory has a faster rating and more bandwidth. Here is a link with a LOT of information on mobile video cards. There are separate pages for ATI, NVidia and a couple that no one really cares about. They update it as the new cards come out, so, I keep it bookmarked.

    I just checked rkcomputers, the MSI-16332 doesn't have the GT version, it's a Go7600.

Actually I am 99% sure it is a GT version. Most sites don't list it as a GT but some do. If you find someone who carries the barebones version it says 7600GT in the description.

    http://www.pcsuperstore.com/products/K99167-Microstar_International-16332.html

I am thinking that this is why it is so hard to find a notebook with that particular video card. Most vendors list it as a 7600 and the GT is dropped. Even on MSI's spec page for that model it says 7600.

I am sending a message to find out for sure. I will report back.
