Just checked out the asus webpage, and saw this model. Is this the new replacement model for the w3v?

Anyone have any experience with this laptop?

I was interested in the w3v for portable gaming, but decided to wait for a while longer to see if there are new models upcoming.

no. the W3Z is more comparable to the W3A and Z63a. Instead of a Pentium M with integrated GMA 900 graphics..

    you get

Turion with ATi xpress 200m integrated graphics. Should go side and side.. although I still wish for a "built on w3v" :p

The W3z is technically "new", but as Goren said, not a W3v replacement. It's an AMD based model and although a great 14" system, it's no W3v....

The W3v will eventually be refreshed, but Asus' timetable for that is April which would be about 1 year after it's initial release.

    great. thanks.

Any of you guys know what the ballpark value of the w3v was when it first came out?

Kinda wanna gauge how much the new one would cost. April. A slightly long wait, but thats ok.

    Thanks again.

$1899. Ensemble models tend to have fixed pricing. Since it came out I remember it going down to $1699? and now it's up to $1799 after a configuration update.

By April, Asus has a new 14" model coming out, so lets wait and see!

.... in terms of the AMD models though.. the W3z is about as good as it's going to get..... They model, if we can even bring it in..... should be around till next fall without another model bumping it out of the 14" catagory.

It's not in the US yet and we don't know if it ever will be.
