I got screwed over by Moduslink and asus and never got a copy of the vista I paid for. I've decided to write it off and give up arguing with the IDIOTS at moduslink.

So I have a full edition of Windows Vista installed on my laptop Asus W7J and want to dual boot XP. Well I wanted to use the copy that came with my Asus so I got the recovery cd's out and was going to use it to install it on a second partition that I have setup. Well with this recovery cd I only have 4 options:

    1. MS-DOS with CD-ROM Support.
    2. Recover Windows XP Pro to first partition only.
    3. Recover Windows XP Pro to entire HD.
    4. Recover Windows XP Pro to entire HD with 2 partition.

Option 2 will delete only the first partition(my vista partition) and reinstall xp on parititon 1 as C:
    Option 3 deletes all partitions
Option 4 also deletes all partitions

    Do I have any options?

I've seen many recovery cds that were just Norton Ghost images... getting the resulting XP to realize it's on the second partition instead of the first is another issue.

I think that with multiple drives and external enclosures it would be possible. Do you want me to elaborate on how I would do it?

If you are willing to start fresh, create a second partition, allow XP to recover to the first and install Vista to the second in that order. If you already have Vista set up and can't afford to lose what's on that partition, clone the Vista partition somewhere. Recreate the XP partition and clone is somewhere. Blank the hard drive, restore them where you want them and get Vista to fixmbr. That may do it. CalebSchmerge, is that what you had in mind?
