I am not totally sure, but I remember reading somewhere that you can't install XP Pro SP1 on the s96j and then installing and updating to SP2 for some reason?

Is this true? and How Come?

Probably, you have used an old version of Windows xp CD for installation. You can skip the sp1 and install a sp2 directly if you have a sp2 file. It still work fine from our experience.

It's true. I was the first to note this on my review at NBF. I have one of each XP Home install disk at home and originally tried with the SP1 disk and it failed. I switched to the SP2 disk and it loaded with no problems. Maybe it was the Expresscard, but the info that led me to the resolution cited PCI-E. Either way, you need SP2.

You can get XP Home Upgrade for $20 AR from Office Depot right now. :)

Nah, it's PCI-E, remember that the X1600 is connected via that.
