Is there anyway to increase my W3J's wireless range, im right no the edge of a network and i keep disconnecting. Also can i change my settings in intel's proset utility somewhere so that if i get disconnected it reconnects to that network rather than another one?

If you have a free pcmcia slot you could give this plus a good antenna a try: http://www.netgate.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_39&products_id=43

They also sell the antennas. This is a long range wireleess card that can give you access up to 1.2km away in clear open space (the regular standard requires 300 feet if I remember correctly).

    Otto.

If you are open to adding mods on the router itself, I suggest the radiolabs wireless range extender. www.radiolabs.com

It has been featured on various magazines like Maximum PC, etc.

    Weird!

The manual says it can accept both PCMCIA cards (type I or II) and both size express cards. It even tells you how to eject the two (because ejecting the two are different), their different speeds, and their different sizes with diagrams of them in a W3. But when I look at my device manager, all I see is Expresscard port controllers...no PCMCIA.

Could it be that the PCMCIA card slot is in an older W3 while the newer W3J has the expresscard slot? Becasuse the Manual doesn't say "W3J", just "W3" series.
