Perhaps I already know this and just don't realize it, or, perhaps I'm just lagging behind......

but what is an IPS screen?.....maybe if i knew what this was, I would understand what all the buzz is about?
    thanks,

IPS stands for in-plane switching....... the liquid crystals are arranged on diagonals instead of straight up and down.... this makes for an expensive panel, but more importantly, the same vertical viewing angles as you have horizontally.......

Here's a quick definition on it. The hype was is that it has very good viewing angles.

That deffinition is old and actually pre-dates the first ACEview screen...... this is back before it was ever used on a laptop..... Asus co-developed this screen with Fujitsu..... IT actually uses LESS power than a standard TFT display... the old definition was why they were never used on laptop to that point...

... simply the best screen you've ever seen may be the best way to put it when looking at the V6va.

so am i to understand that NONE of the Core Duo models will have IPS?.....that certainly is a pity.....is this also a demand issue? Because otherwise it seems like it would be an excellent leg up over the competition!

It's expensive, yes..... and it's in short supply.... I guess price and supply do go hand and hand.. but it creates two issues.

    1. Asus can't put it on systems in large production because of the supply issue...... and because not EVERYONE understands it or is willing to pay for it.

    2. It'll appear again and I'm sure... reviews of the V6va's screen won't start appearing for another month and if word about the screen can really spread.... maybe we could see them again later in the year... but right now, they're just not in these systems.
