I have an eee 1005HA and am having some problems. I upgraded the RAM from 1GB to 2GB (of the same speed at 800Mhz [faster timings, though]) and also the standard Hitachi 160GB 5400rpm HDD to a WD 320GB 7200rpm HDD. I cloned the drive with Acronis and everything worked wonderfully - until I tried to make it work.

I am about to take the upgraded (OCZ) ram and replace it with the original (ASint) ram. I don't think this is the problem, but as someone who fixes their friends/family's computers, I am very aware that crap like this happens. I will move on to the HDD next.

Here's what happens: I restored the HDD back to its original factory state once the new drive/ddr is in and everything goes great; I uninstall the bloatware, install (basic, freeware) apps, install windows updates and copy over my files (restarting periodically, of course). Everything is fine and I'm happy. Then the next time I restart, the screen freezes while loading XP -- sort of like playing stoplight (start, go, start, go..) and never loads. I then have no choice but to reinstall.

I reinstall and everything is great again, and I do the same thing, except in stages I restart and observe, instead of doing lots at once. So I'm done, the comp sits for ~12 hours so I shut it down. When I started it up the same thing happened again. ?

I looked, and could not find much that mirrored my symptoms; but I thought I would ask before I test every piece of hardware/software on this comp: has anyone experienced anything similar to this on an eee or knows what it is?? Any ideas? Thanks,
