My friend just came back from Taiwan and I asked him to buy me a W3J and bring it over. I really hate the wait and the price there is way cheaper! He got it for $51000 NT (plus an extra 1 GB memory stick), so that's only about $1783.84 Canadian, and NO TAX!!! WOOHOO! :)

So here is the spec of my W3J, looks like the Taiwan version has the slower CPU and the RAM spec is different than the North America version, the rest is the same. I also get a free bluetooth mouse and a free carrying bag.

    CPU: Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2300 (1.66GHz)
    OS: Windows® XP Home Edition
RAM: 1024MBx1 DDRII 533MHz (Stock) (I added another 1 GB so is now 2 GB)
    Video Card: ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1600, 256MB Dedicated VRAM
Hard Drive: Fujitsu 100 GB (5400 rpm)
Optical Drive: 8X DVD-Dual (Support Double Layer)

The first thing I checked was the LCD quality, I was very happy to see that there is no dead pixels nor bright pixels, and the screen is really crystal clear.
The machine itself is really quiet, can't hear the fan at all, however the DVD drive seems abit loud to me when it spins.

So far everything about this laptop is within my expectation, the only thing that is missing is the DVI port :( I'll run 3DMark05 later to check out the score, right now I'm just too busy playing all kind of games on it.

Had to say it didn't you? I bought Oblivion over a month ago with the expectation I would never get to play it until my w3j came. Well, a month later and no w3j. You're a blessed man, blessed indeed. Keep the good news coming.

hehe, yah, lol, I have oblivion too, im waiting (like i always do) to play it. Either get a new GPU in my desktop and or get a laptop soon. hehe

Congratz and have fun with it. I hope to see a review of it.

Since we've heard alot of other things about the W3J, can we plz get a batterylife test and 3dMark05/06 score and then tell us how HOT/WARM the laptop got.

For Batterylife test, I would like to know a real life test:
    Wifi ON
CPU and GPU set to long batterylife
And just type and on WORD and browse the internet at a reasonable screen brightness so that you can still see it :D

    Thanks in advance,

    MysticGolem

I remember reading it somewhere that there is a blue line that will light up in between the two buttons on the mousepad, but so far I dont see it. Is that cool feature not on W3J?

Not sure if the W3j will have it, but I think the W5f has it.

Intel HD Audio for the US anyway...

At least that's what's expected - we won't really know until they arrive in the US.

MIT bought it in taiwan. I would like to know what type of audio he has.
Im going to be hopeful about the HD audio in the USA, but I think it would be the first time audio specs have been changed in the asus ensemble lineup between various continent regions.

So if anyone has the W3HT23 please let us know the audio specs.

    Thanks!!

Are these babies not available in canada? They look very similar in specs to the A8J, but I think there's a price premium. The body must be much nicer, it looks really attractive in the pictures. Is that the major difference?

Not available in the US either until then. :( Knock on wood though about early June -- the way things are going it might slide further, who knows.
