Hi I have a new Asus f8va-C1 running Vista Sp1. As far as I know the system has 4 gig of ram, the gpu has 1 gig of ram. However the ATI catalyst control centre is reporting I have 2 gig of ram available on my video card which is way too much and only 3 gig available on my system.

Can I change this? I tried Ati tray tols but that doesn't seem to work...

I also updated the Bios to see if the setting appeared there but it seems not to be there.

    Hi.

you have vista32 and it can only see 3.2gb of you 4gb memory, you graphic card has 1gb of it,s own dedicated memeory and cannot be used by the system! only the graphic card!

Vista uses around 1gb of my 3gb memory so you should have about 2gb free, but vista tries to use as much memory as it can to speed up the computer.

So all in all i think you will have around 2gb of free memory , even though it might only show as 500mb!

EDIT : you graphic card can also use some of the system memory, but it will only use it if it needs it, but you have 1gb of dedicated memory so this will never happen!!

Ok, so I think the video card must be grabbing the unused gig of ram that Vista cannot use. Hence my 2gig. crazy!
