I bought my Asus W2JC in August last year and when i bought it, it was pretty much the bees knees! Now they're bringing out new things and better things and it makes me a little bit down because the top notch beast that i bought 6 months ago isnt the best anymore. I hate how technology moves on this fast sometimes, probably only when it affects me lol :) .

So if there are any more of you out there that have the same feeling deep down inside that ur beast that u bought is becoming a little bit tame come and share it here lol

I hate to be the one that gives you the news, but when you buy IT technology that you can find in mass commerce, it is already technically obsolete by a few months, since there are prototypes out there one or two generations on advance. :)

So don't complicate your life unnecessarily.

I am suprised but my a8js is still the cutting edge computer of its size 3 months later.

nothing has improved and no new technology has come to market.

I bought the introduction of the 7700 go and the late asus introduction of the 7200 to the market in late october.

Nothing new coming out anytime soon.

Im pretty sure I did it exactly right. But Im a nut about it.

I'm more surprised by what hasn't improved. I'm looking for an upgrade to my 4 year old Pentium 4-M Toshiba 5205 which is getting a wee bit slow (ha!) and has always run hot because of its CPU.

In the two computers I've had sent to the house (the dell d820 and the Compal Hel80), plus all the models I've seen in the stores, none can touch my UXGA monitor or the Harman Kardon speakers. Also, it has an excellent keyboard with no failed keys after 4 years of very heavy use and it has a volume dial that I find very useful.

4 years down the road, shouldn't all entertainment computers have great speakers and an excellent screen with perfect viewing angles? It mystifies me.

I'm making my final decision between the A8js (portability), the G1(features), and the V2 (if I can wait that long). My main hang up is that I don't want to send another computer back -I hate to do that - and I have to have a decent screen that has no sparkly whites like the dell and the compal.

    thats the problem with technology
when technology does not advance fast enough, people complain that they want something faster
when technology does advance at a fast pace, people complain about how outdated their stuff is, as well as the new stuff being too expensive

i personally would love to buy new technology products, but the problem is, what i have is good enough and there isnt really need for new replacements other than the need for being new.

i would love to replace all my notebooks and computer with more recent ones, not one of them have a core duo, but its good enough for what i need it for for the most part

See, anymore its a game of trying to convince you that you need to buy a new computer because of one new feature. If you wait 3-4 years (like I did) to get a new computer, there is a lot of things that have improved. What it seems like to me, though, is that they never release all the things you want at once. Lets say you wanted a new laptop with the newest board, and an HD drive, they would only have one, so by the time you wait for both, its time for the next new set of things.

I'm with you on the monitor and speakers. I myself have a 4.5yr old Toshiba 5105-S501, and the Harmon Kardon speakers on this thing are just plain ridiculous. Also, my LCD is still beautiful and at least as good if not better than most current LCD's out there. It seems like Toshiba experimented with installing high-end speakers on their laptops 4yrs ago...fast forward a few years and speakers seem to be an afterthought on most new laptops.

As for the other components, my lappy is definately showing it's age (32mb video card, 512Mb 233Mhz ddr ram, horrible battery life with a P4 M...)

Well, me too play the "waiting game". Waiting for the V2J, hopefully it will last me at least 2 years before some other new techno replacing it :)

Oh same with me on the speakers.

I had a 4 year old sony pcg nvr 23 before this one, it had a sub woofer.

The speakers were much better definitely.

Speaker technology hasnt changed any lol I think the consumer cares about it less now. Now everyone has an ipod

The speakers on the a8js dont compare. Since I still have the sony ones Ive thought about transplanting them
