How many here are actually using Vista for gaming?

I currently have XP installed but I'm wondering how many of you stayed with vista? Is it as bad as people say? I didn't even try it. I'm saving my install disc for when SP1 comes out, it should be pretty great then if MS has any brains. Of course, the whole DX10.1 thing is rediculous...

I'm sticking with Vista. It has worked for me so far. I've been playing FEAR at max res and max settings and it runs well. I personally doubt that the hassle of installing XP and hunting for drivers is worth the extra frame per sec. And I'm curious about DX10.

It's fine to game under Vista, though XP might give a slight (3ish) FPS advantage. With my 8600m GT, I can play Oblivion, GRAW, CoD2, BF2 just fine, mostly at mid-high settings with the FPS never dipping under 30.

Vista works fine for me for WoW, War3, SC and CS:S.

Occasionally I go back to XP to play D2. D2 runs fine in Vista as well, it's just the other associated programs of D2 don't.

i used vista for my C&C3.

since vista still buggy OS, better install Rollback Rx. This works same as windows system restor but more reliable and very useful specially if you hate BSOD due to installation of NVIDIA or any buggy drivers.

i am using vista on the my V2je and i run at a decent medium to high settings. On FEAR i get an average of 55-60 fps on my OC X1450 and the game runs smooth =) I am just waiting for omega drivers for vista then it should be even better

Has anyone done comparisons or anything? Most of the reviews I've read etc came out in march or earlier so it seems that there would have been some great updates since then. I am a big Guild Wars player, in XP I can run at max settings at native resolution, will this be possible in Vista? I have some programs running to give me a vistaish look in XP but it's slightly buggy when it comes to resizing windows etc and I'm almost thinking it takes up as much CPU as actually running Aero! I was just thinking that with SP1 soon coming (supposedly) what is there holding a power user back from using vista? with the alerts turned off it actually seemed quite nice to me.

I was pretty skeptical but after using Vista for a couple days and turning off the alerts I'm hooked. The performance hit is still there but isn't enough to make me switch back, infact I might not have noticed it but for 3dmark. And Aero is really cool :) I believe it disables when you are in a game, etc. Vista handles memory and HD usage much differently than XP.

Yup I think I'm gonna reinstall it and give it a try. I'm getting really tired of the windows file protection crap I keep getting cause my drivers are unsigned...

I did a comparison check out my c90s review: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=142447

XP comes off ahead in most test just by a small amount tho.
