I have an N10J A2. When trying to use the "splash" browser in the Expressgate OS, I have to set up the network to recognize and connect to available networks. So far I have had no luck in getting the wifi radio -- which is turned on by the switch and does show to be on by the indicator light -- to connect. Does anyone here have some expertise on this matter? I would appreciate your help.

Hi, and welcome to the forums!
Does your router have any security settings? If so, it will only work with WPA. Also try and set your router to broadcast mixed B&G only

    Hi David,
In the network settings, there is wap and wap2. I tried manually entering the various addresses and automatically. It keep going back to "disconnected".
No sure how to force the router, the Motorola WR850G to broadcast mixed B/G

How about if you leave all security settings out? ie set your router so that no password is needed to connect to it.
If that works, then it should be an issue with the router. Try update your router firmware and see if that helps.

    Hi,
I have updated the firmware for my motorola router and all of my computers are connecting to the home network - 3 are XP machines and 1 is Vista Business (the Asus with the Expressgate). However, I still am unable to connect when I shut down and enter the Expressgate. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I already updated the Expressgate software and the Lan software for the Asus machine. One plus is that my network seems to be working better/faster since making the firmware update. But I don't want a partially functioning Asus N10J. I would like to have the option to surf internet from Expressgate if possible. Got any more ideas?

OK, now I'm cooking with grease and I hope it stays that way. David thanks for giving me some good feedback. Muzhik, yes, I was able to connect through ethernet when in Expressgate, but couldn't get the wifi to connect.

Well, I updated the 2004 firmware on my motorola wireless router (all of that information was found at Motorola support for discontinued items). I then downloaded the updates from Asus for the WLan support and the updated Expressgate. One step at a time, because of all the changes to my network at home, all of my other computers (3 xp machines and 1 Vista Asus on the network) had to be set up again on the network (which is security enabled). Once I got those going again - by the way, it seems to be working faster on my 5 meg Charter internet - I then turned my attention to the Expressgate. I turned it on, selected for it to automatically obtain the IP address under the General tab and for it to automatically obtain the DNS and under the Wifi tab, I did a search and it found two networks (mine and a neighbors). I clicked on mine, it showed WEP (open) and had a blank spot for me to enter my security "key". I entered it and bammo, it recognized my ip address and I was online in the Asus Expressgate. Thanks again, I think this case is closed. I know that there are others suffering from the same thing. Hopefully this will help them to work through it.

David, and thank you. I really needed to have someone to give me some ideas on the direction to go. Thanks. Writing down the process and showing the results I got is my way of paying back and maybe helping the next guy.
