    System: G50VT-X5

    Hey all,

Having a problem with Nvidia System Tools. I've been unable to change the clock speeds to prevent my card temperatures and their respective clock speeds from vacillating like an elevator. I'm able to bring down GPU's core clock and memory clock settings. But Nvidia system tools keeps preventing me from bringing down shader speeds below roughly 1056. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

    Fluctuating Temps:

Couldn't bring core clock speeds to below 143/199/1056.

Anyone got any tips or advice on how to bring shader speeds lower and what settings to use for gaming? Not sure whether disabling powermizer did much...

Your drivers - use a new version like 186.82. You'll have to do completely uninstall everything and reinstall the drivers while in Windows VGA standard mode.

Are those at nvidia's website or DOX?

    EDIT: Laptopvideo2go I'm guessing?

After I install the video and lower the clock speeds, do I need to use that specific low-temperature profile for general purposes and use the default system settings for gaming????

Yep. You manually switch them (or you'll notice your games will start croaking).

    Problem:

186.82 - I used the "have disk" method, it says that the 9800M GT driver's not detected!! Now I'm stuck at 186.81

Is there another driver out there from laptopvideo2go that I should take a look at? Need something for 9800m GS....

I succeeded in installing the 186.91 drivers. I'll be keeping HW monitor up all day to see whether it fluctuates again. If it does, I'll be experimenting and tinkering with system tools. Funny part is I'm unable to configure it correctly...unless someone can dig me up a dummy's tutorial for it, I'm down for using system restore to undo any changes i accidentally make to the system defaults.

Alrighties...I'll be subscribed to this page if anyone else has advice.

BTW...do you know how to remove rules you no longer want?

EDIT: Also, it looks like the new drivers disabled Nvidia's tendency to prevent me from lowering shader speeds. I've programmed it to activate automatically when temperatures hit 53 C. It's a ghetto trick as I'll have todisable this every time i play a game.
