    Could someone confirm what type of hard drive is in the 1299 version of the G51 on newegg.com

    I would like to buy another drive and put it in raid but i need to know if i got the same drive

    In order to do RAID you must have the exact same drives.

    doesnt have to be the exact drive, but the same size drive. eg 2x 320gb.

    Chin is right; they only need to be the same size. Which is also why, people will tell you to NEVER buy two drives at the same time and put them in RAID0. Always try to get from different batches.

    You should also consider getting the same capacity AND same speed hard drives if you want a RAID setup; especially if you want to setup a RAID 5 configuration.

    Personally, I would just buy the identical drive at the same time (same model, capacity, speed). I've done this with both notebook and desktop hard drives and never had any issues.

    I always bought same model hdd's to use with my desktops pcs, never ever had a problem, and im going soon be making a RAID0 in the Asus G51VX-RX05, and will for sure be using the same model ...
