Guys with C90S, what kind of 3mark06 scores are you getting with the 8600gt dd3?

Wondering if it is good enough to justify returning a m1530 for this comp. Thanks!

Hate to burst that idea, but ASUS has discontinued the 8600m GT DDR3. The card had a high overheating rate that caused a lot of failures/warranty claims.

If you do intend on getting a C90, you should wait for the newer version C90P with cooling improvements, Penryn(Wolfsdale and maybe even Yorkfield) support, and perhaps a higher-end graphic solution. Rumors are saying that the 9500m GT (which is a 8700m GT dieshrink) will be available and even the 9600m GT (8800m GT) was heavily talked about.

Personally if you need a computer now, keep the m1530 as the DDR3 card will score faster than our systems at this point except only for the remaining DDR3 C90s guys.

Online. Most local places around here never get the parts or stock that I'm looking for. CC might have like memory or hard drive upgrades, but not the latest or greatest products. I tried looking for the 8600m GT DDR3 MXM card locally but to no avail, and this was when it was not discontinued. Supposedly TigerDirect had it, but it was never instock

    hmm...from that thread I can't see anybody really breaking the 5k mark...maybe i'm blind...

I broke it with 600/900 on rivatuner. Temps stayed constant at 77 degrees, ran through 3x3dmark06 no problems. Weird if we have the same card and and their processors are desktop processors..

    Doesn't make sense....

Interesting...there's a guy in the dell forums that has the same laptop configuration as me except he's got the penryn T9300. He successfully OC'd to 7k + using cpu + gpu OC. He said temps stayed reasonable...

So my question to you guys, have you guys tried to test out the outer limits of your cards? I know is really tough cuz afraid of overheating/dying but has anybody gotten to that range?

I ask because it's interesting to see the difference in capabilities between the two systems with the exact same vid card - yet diff processors (desktop vs mobile)
