I've been enjoying my recently purchased Asus g51vx (picked it up yesterday), but am wondering whether you can change which program the play, stop, fast forward, and rewind keys (up, down, left, right) govern. Right now it works with the notoriously abysmal Windows Media Player, in fact if you try to use the keys WMP opens up. Is there anyway to get it to work with Winamp or even iTunes?

I can't get the media keys to work with Winamp either. Interested if anyone can come up with a fix.

They are not special "ASUS" keys, they are most likely the tyipcal Media Keys on most Laptops and PC Keyboards these days.

The reason the keys do not work with Winamp is because there are already hotkeys assigned to the actions (ie to rewind, you go ctrl + alt + left). It is this way because the Nullsoft devs doesn't want to change the key binds everytime the industry decides to create new keys that are not standard.

So, how do we bind the media keys in winamp? Just follow this tutorial!

I have two keyboards plugged into my G51. My Reclusa gaming keyboard's media keys work fine with Winamp, with no setting up. The media keys on my G51 keyboard do not.

Interesting! Maybe they have added support for keyboards with media keys, and it switches over automatically.

In any case, have you followed the tutorial?

Ok, so I tried the tutorial that was posted and it didn't exactly work, but at the same time it didn't completely fail either. I can set one Fn key for any command, stop for example. The thing is it seems that Winamp is viewing all the Fn keys as the same so Fn + up is read as 0x0, but so are all the other keys, so you can only set one Fn key. I'm going to try and figure out how WMP is reading the Fn keys maybe that will help us figure out how to get them to work with other apps.
