They're going to do some very thorough burn-in tests, so I won't have until Friday. Oh, it's also coming with the Blu-Ray burner.

Ordering it with those specs, I don't think my first car cost as much (unless you are using parts you already have of course), kudos to you. Let us know when its all fired up and running.

The hard drive and memory upgrade I'm doing myself. Everything's ready to go in. They're flying it out overnight Thursday. It's just as well. I'm 1000 miles from home now.

    Check it out people.

Video and benchmarks have been uploaded. Looks sexy, and a QX9300 does indeed work in this machine.

Argh. I wonder what's up with mine?

guys... i noticed in the review video, that the lights on the side of the notebook was turned OFF while the one in the middle was ON...

Is it a program or something that can do it? And, can i use this same program on mine G51VX-RX05? I really wanna get some sleep tonight, so i hope i can turn off those (insert bad words here) lights.. -_-

Don't know if this will help - maybe the G51 is like the G50Vt?

On the G50Vt, go into Direct Console 2.0. Go into Advance/Advance/Lighting Behavior/Light Off. This turns the side lights off.

I purchased one tonight from an Asus authorized reseller on Ebay using Bing cashback. This along with my credit card cash back knocked about 9% off the purchase price. I currently own an Asus A8JS. I'll post first impressions when I get it. Seller said they arrived in stock today.

It is an OEM model SLB5J, so I don't know what's up. I'm having it shipped out soon so I can have it tested.

and install it in the RX05. Then get a Quad core on the cheap when Intel releases their next batch of chips. All said and done, you get the same package as the A1 but for less.

Plus, I like the white top better than the damn lightning sticker on the A1!

Not quite the same. You would have to add a 2nd 320GB 7200 rpm drive and as previously stated replace LCD and processor. I paid $1495 for my A1 shipped to my front door.

But a good Western Digitial 320GB @ 7200rpm HDD is like eighty bucks at some online sellers.

By the way, do you have the computer yet?

$1,495 U.S.? That seems quite a bit cheaper than the $1,600+ ExoticPC and GenTechPC are asking for.

i saw the clock of the GTX260M in the G51VX-A1 was downclocked, is it truth? which mean sager's GTX260M is stronger with the clock 550/850/1350

It's stronger at clock, yes. You can overclock the Asus so it has the same values as the Sager.

I don't know what that means either, but he has to be talking about temperatures. There are RX05 owners who would kill for a 76 C GPU at load.

i saw the G51VX-A1 review at youtube. i saw the temperature is 76c. looks vry high. if overclock, i think will burn the GPU. G51VX-RX05 even more higher 80-90c.

Asus said the notebook was designed to run at highs 90'sC .. so, no need to worry much about temps? specially when its so low as 76C...

76C would actually be really low for any gaming laptop especially if it is under load. If that was the CPU, a different question, but its very normal for something as powerful as the GTX 260M

Well after scrutinizing the A1 video review as well as Sunny's BB review it would seem that the internal cooling components are laid out 100% the same. Same amount of heatsinks, copper tubing, contacts for the CPU/GPU etc.

So it would seem that any BB owner could upgrade their CPU and expect the same thermal returns as an A1 owner.

Hawata the "white mecha-thing" is Best Buys version, the black and blue version (A1) is the online version you can buy from GenPC, XoticPC, or ExcaliburPC.

I just would like to know the if there are any heating issues with the QX9300 chip, being cramped on a 15'' laptop this should be somewhat warm. I wonder if the GTX 260m is downclocked to run cooler.

I'm from Canada so to get the A1 shipped to my door would cost about $2100 (CAD), if I'm lucky. The RX05 I can get shipped for less than $1200.

I can get a replacement 1600x900 LCD for $200 and I figure I can get a Quad core for about $200 after Intel releases their next gen chips. That leaves me with enough of a price difference to upgrade to 8GB RAM and get a second SSD (already have 80GB X25-M).

Overall I think it will be a better machine than the A1 for the same price. Plus, I'm disappointed to see that the A1 has that black and blue lightning graphic. White Mecha all the way!

Sounds like you have a plan. I prefer the black lid with graphic.
Don't forget the A1 comes with an LED LCD at 1920X1080. I also plan to do some CPU, Memory and Hard Drive upgrading when chip/component prices come down.
