Hey everyone, this is my first post so I'm still getting through the loops of this forum.

Anyway, I just purchased the Asus G51-Vx from Fry's, and it came with Vista 64 bit pre-installed. My friend who is a certified Microsoft developer hooked me up with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit). After installing it, I immediately downloaded the latest Nvidia driver, which was succesful. But when I went to the Asus Website and installed the drivers for Win 7 on my notebook, they apparently "worked", but when I restarted my comp, the keyboard shortcuts were still not working. The Fn volume control doesn't work, and neither do the touch performance, screen resolution, and touchpad on/off buttons work. So I was wondering if I had installed the incorrect drivers, or if I need to wait for the release date of Win 7 for the updates.

    Thanks

Did you install all the ATK-prefixed drivers and utils?

There is an ATK-related update through the Windows Update feature. That helped me.

Oh cool thanks guys. Just installed those 5 ATK drivers and I got my fn keys and my touchpad on/off to work. But my performance level and screen resolution touch keys still aren't responding. I mean it's not that big of a deal, but do you know which driver(s) I should try?

    Thanks again

Performance level: I suspect you need Power4Gear for that.

As to screen resolution, I have no idea as I've never seen that feature on any ASUS notebook I owned.

There is the Splendid utility that changes color/brightness/contrast presets with one of the touch buttons...is that what you mean? It is also available at the Asus download center.

Yeah I installed it, and I can still access it through the programs, but it doesn't let me change through the touch button

Yeah I downloaded it. It created a desktop shortcut which showed the screen settings (which i maxed out on Vivid), but the touch button still couldn't access it

Yeah, well at least I know that my computer won't be eaten alive from the torrented version that's homing in your computer

And FYI, I'm not trying to show off, I'm just saying 32 bit to specify what driver's i would need.

I missed that part...you can legally download the 64 bit RTM. Everything works for me on that version using the drivers on the Asus site.

When I had Win7 on my machine, I installed all the drivers using the CD that came with the notebook ( the blue one )... All I had to do is right click the "setup.exe" ( or the executable in the root directory of the CD ), and set compatibility to Vista =P

    Everything worked flawless ...
