    Hi guys,

I own an Asus g50vt-x1 from BB, and I'm thinking about buying a x9100, but I'm worried It may get very hot? will it, I read somewhere about some TDP  stuff but I just Cant seem to understand it. I feel like this processor that comes with my laptop a little "weak" for playing games like Far Cry 2, Crisys WH, and I really thinking bout going to another, like the x9100 or t9800.

    Any suggestions?

As this processors are very good processors, I don't intend to overclock them, as I see no need!

    GBYA!!

Go with the T9800, the cooling handles 35W processors just fine, and the tiny amount of extra speed with the X9100 is not worth the price you'll pay. Not that the T9800 is cheap, mind you.

I know, I find them at ebay at the same price, that's where my doubt resides, because if I can find them in the same price, is it whorty a little faster and extra heat?

I ant find a really difference between thes cpus.

The T9800 will be 98% as fast and will be much cooler, and it's definitely compatible with the G50Vt bios. I can't say whether the X9100 is compatible.

The X9100 is compatible with the G50 series, however, I'd still recommend the T9800 as it's performance is very similar and runs 10W cooler. If you do decide to go for the X9100, I would highly recommend using AS5 thermal compound.

Hell, either way use AS5 if you are replacing the processor. You have to apply a thermal compound anyways, might as well use the good stuff.

Or MX2, which I recommend more for notebooks because it's non-conductive.

So basically it's as efficient but less expensive?

Yea, the multiplier is a factor in the Extreme chips, but I'm not sure how useful that'd be. With a 44W thermal production, playing with the multiplier would likely ramp up the heat quickly.
