    hi,

is the Zalman NC2000 a good cooler for the G50Vt-X2 notebook? it is a 15.4" screen but almost the size of a 17" notebook. i'm not sure how the cooling system is designed but will it help the temperatures? i'd like to hear from people with the G50 series (assuming the entire line shares the same chassis)

    thanks.

Well... It fits. That's about it really. Don't expect more than a few degrees cooler. Fairly disappointed with mine. The only tangible benefit is raising the laptop at an angle which i now realize I really need. A cheap stand would work just as well I reckon.

instead of a pointless cooler get something that raises the nb half an inch from the surface. THat is all you need. it will do the same as a cooler. you just need a bigger gam between the intake and surface. fans will not do much better

The Enermax Aeolus CP001 (review in signature) is a good option. The only thing is, a 17" slightly hangs off the back. Yours may also, but the notebook may fit. The slight hang off, doesnt affect cooling ability.

    Also the NZXT Cryo LX.

A cooler helps, raising it helps too, but NOT as much as an extra fan in a cooler.

One little consideration, try to find out where the cooler's intake is. If it is on the left side near the back, it's probably not a good choice since it would recirculate the hot exhaust air (I had this problem with the setup in my sig, but then again it might just be due to a laptop with poor cooling design having a CPU with a min/max TDP of 40/70W).

You can probably do without a cooler for things other than intensive tasks or games, but in a pinch you can always prop up the back with a book, which also angles it for ease of typing.

no... The g50V plays very badly with notebook coolers in general because
    I) The intake vents are small slits (several of them). They don't help air flow.
II) The laptop is raised a few mm from the bottom so even aluminium/metal coolers which might help the likes of the MBP, won't help with the G50V(t)

Usually not a problem as most coolers just take air from any direction or just from the back. (AFAIK)

Absolutely no problem. I did a mini-review on the combination of the g50V A1 and the NC2000 a while back in http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=314472&highlight=NC2000+G50V. Have a look if u want.

That stand looks very fragile. It would work I suppose. Anything would, really. That stand can be packed away which I imagine would come in very handy for some.
