    Hi G50Vt owners,
Which video drivers are you all running? Mine will be arriving soon and I want to know which drivers I should install before it arrives.
I'm looking for optimal performance gaming wise, if that helps.
    Cheers

Their is already a few post about this... The understanding I have is the 179.14 (last 179.xx WHQL driver) seems to get best benchmarks, but the new 180's run better and get better in some other spots.

    Its a toss up.

Anyway they can be found at: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers and than you will need the modded inf file to use them as they are not supported but no one has had any problems.

I am using 180.70 and work great so far. In some games like Left 4 Dead I saw less maximum performance (above 60fps) but definately saw an increase in min frames (stayed above 38 to 40 99% of the time) whereas with previous drivers I used to get to lower 30 or even 25+ fps as minimum.

I have read that a lot of people's 3dmark score went down with those new drivers but personally it stayed basically the same, whereas there seems to be improvements on several games.

I recommend you to try out 180.70 :)

i had 179.14 official ones from the asus support site for your laptop.. start with those and then try the 180.70 and compare them both..as far as game performance goes.

drivers are very subjective so just try them both out and see what gives... they r definetly good drivers tho, both

Considering what ryzeki I might go with 180.70. Just because the synthetic benches go down really means absolutely nothing for what your real world game performance will be. You have to realize that nVidia is not optimizing the drivers for 3dmark so if they get some great optimizations for games in their drivers it might hurt 3dmark because it is such a specific program in what it does everytime over and over. I for one NEVER use 3dmark to see how the performance differs from driver to driver as its a really ignorant thing to do. It is real game fps that matters and people need to start realizing this (please don't take this the rong was I am not bashing anyone jst giving my educated opinion on the matter). What I would suggest it run a benchmark in your favourite game and then change drivers and do the same and see what happens!

Little bit of a rant, but oh well!

    Hope this helps!!

I completely agree, I've never used 3dmark once, and I take the results posted on here with a pinch of salt. What the driver is meant to do, game, is the real test. :D
I'll test the stock and 180.70 drivers in COD4/5 and other such games, and when I do get my notebook to do this on, will post results so other people don't have my bother!
    Cheers
