Just looking for a little advice. I have noticed a large decline in FPS lately while gaming and I am thinking it has to do with heat. I have noticed the computer seems to feel hotter then it use to. I don't have any temps from before but the CPUs are both at about 81 and the gpu I believe is around 85 or so when I start getting lag. I havn't changed my setup any so I am wondering if something is going on with my fan. It doesn't seem to be as loud as it use to be as a matter of fact I can't hear it at all but I do know that it is spinning because I took the panel off and checked. It also doesn't seem to be blowing as much air as it use to. I blew it out well but still no improvement.

That being said I am wondering if maybe I have a bad bearing or the controller isn't spinning the fan up all the way so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to verify that it is spinning full speed. I tried Speedfan but it doesn't seem to be working correctly or working with the motherboard.

    Thanks for any help.

That CPU temp is waaaaay too high,I would remove the back cover and clean out the fan box and verify that the vents are not blocked.
The highest CPU temp I see is 65C,and that's a little on the hot side...
Try an new GPU driver too.

Thanks. I blew the hell out of it there are no obstructions on the vents. That is why I am thinking it may be the fan. As for GPU driver I have the newest one from Asus's website not sure where to find one outside I downloaded the newest Nvidia utility but it said it didn't support my video card.

85 is nowhere near the downclock temp of ~103C. My 9800m is a little overclocked and with everything going (FSB OC) sometimes it hits 97C (without a cooler), no lag though. I'm not sure why you'd get lag at 85. If anything 85 is trigger temp for the fan to go into its highest setting. That's all that should happen at 85, though.

But 80C should be around the down clock temp for an CPU....And Significant the down clock is.

    >_< You're right, I missed the CPU part. I'm so used to the CPU being icy cold compared to the GPU. That is weird indeed.

So that brings me back to possibly the fan I know the vents are clear but I feel hardly anything blowing out. Is there any software that will work with the MB to tell me how fast it is spinning or to set the spin speed? If I remember correctly (the comp is about a year old) the can use to be louder then the HDD and now I can't hear it come on at all. I would think it was completely dead but I know it spins from taking the back plate off. Thinking it might be something like a bad fan bearing or possibly it just isn't picking up in speed like it is supposed to.

    Again thanks for any help

Maybe a BIOS flash? What BIOS do you have?
