Does the ir on the G50 work to send and receive files or is it for a remote control only? I've searched but can't find any info on how to use it
    Thanks

You may be able to cook up an IR remote but for file transfer I feel that bluetooth has replaced it, and there are even tons of bluetooth remotes these days (my cell phone doubles as a bluetooth remote)

    Thanks Vicious,
I was mainly wondering why it was there. Thanks also for your great reviews and info, been lurking for a while and appreciate the pics and advice.

IR transfers are actually faster than Bluetooth I think. It is just somewhat inconvenient to have to align the IR senders and receivers.

Trust me Bluetooth is -way- faster, especially if both devices are 2.0+EDR (As the G50V is). I sync my Sprint Touch PocketPC over bluetooth every day, in addition to moving files back and forth. It's pretty dang fast!
