    Hi Everyone,
    I've been playing around with a lot of games, and Gears of War seems to be a sore spot. It seems to stutter and slow down an aweful lot. Is there any ideal driver? I know that it came factory loaded with 175.80, so it's pretty current already. People have told me that even 8800 cards suffer with Gears of War. Let me know if there's any options or drivers that I can try.

    Resolution
    1280 x720

    Graphic Settings
    All Medium

    Thanks,
    Gabe

    I updated to the 177.79 drivers and they work fine, if you want to try a new driver that would be a good place to start, but I think you answered your own question. If a 8800 has trouble running it a 9700gt will have even more trouble since its not nearly as fast.

    you need to navigate to my documents > gears of war > wargame > config

    now you need to look at the file called WarEngineUserSettings and change this value:

    OnlyStreamInTextures=FALSE to OnlyStreamInTextures=TRUE

    fixed my stuttering. give it a try.

    Is that not the same entry twice?

    Oh your notation was unusual to put the entire command twice rather than just showing the value change so I thought it was two entries and you had a typo there.

    Yes, i believe you did. He was just confused because you typed the whole command twice instead of just saying change false to true, but the way you did it is more error proof.

    Agreed and you wrote "to" in between xxERIKxx

    "now you need to look at the file called WarEngineUserSettings and change this value:

    OnlyStreamInTextures=FALSE to OnlyStreamInTextures=TRUE"

    makes perfect sense to me and it's how I would have written it AND it's how I read it.
