Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and have been reading up on the Asus G1S and G2S gaming notebooks for the past week. Now I have decided to purchase one of them and I wanted to know which of the 2 you would recommend. I plan on using an external 19inch LCD when playing games at home. Is the higher resolution on the G2S lcd worth the upgrade or should i save the money and spend it on increasing the RAM on a G1S to 3GB

Thanks in advance for your help. I would lie to order my new notebook from Genetech by the end of this week

it depends what you want to do with the laptop
i would get the g1s, the g2s is underpowered for a 17 inch

I second kickdim's recommendation, they are so similar and the g1s is smaller and still quite portable.

Have you looked at the Compal IFL90 that is going to be released soon, it is promising.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had decided on 3, which was G1S, G2S or the MBP (Mac Book Pro).

I then narrowed it down to the G1S or the G2S because to me, the MacSoftware and all that isn't worth another addtional $700+ after taxes and all (Canadian Taxes).

The G1S and the G2S is a $90 difference at one of the stores that I can order the notebook from. The only problem with the G1S to me was the connections. I don't like having A/V and LAN connections on the right side, I prefer them to be on the left and have the DVD/RW on the right side.

The G2S is opposite to the G1S where the AV/Lan connections are on the left and the DVD/RW is on the right which is exactly how I want it. At the sametime the resolution is way lager and something I like, but at 3lbs heavier, and thicker, was something that turned me off a bit, but then again at $90 difference it was sorta hard to choose.

Both notebooks are exactly the same specs, only screensize, weight, size and connection prefrence are different.

What ultimately made me choose was a weekly special. The store I was gonna deal with has a weekly special this week on the G1S for sale for $2019 CAD, their normal price is $2098 CAD, where other stores where selling it for around $2300 CAD, all before taxes.

I think i'll be happy, either way, I know i'm gonna love the G1S a little more because it is lighter and the right size that I like, but I'll just have to suffer just a little with having to deal with the connections on the right side of the notebook, where I use a mouse.

if your gonna be using a external monitor then go with the G1S. Even with the G2S youre not gonna want to play in its native res cause it'll be too slow.
Yet, if you get the G2S then you may not have to buy the external monitor. Not a big diff from your proposed 19" and the 17".
Look at the G2S screen in ur area and compare the two.

Thank you all very much for the info. I think i will go with the G1S. I went to best buy to check it out earlier today(it was the old G1 model) and I liked it. When i compared it side by side with a 17 inch toshiba gaming notebook, the difference in screen size was noticeable but not by much. Will I be able to output to an external LCD and still use the LCD on the G1S without a noticeable drop in performance when playing games like Stalker and WoW?
