So I was playing Dawn of War 2 beta earlier today and just after 5 minutes of gaming it just turned off. I haven't checked temperatures yet, but I can only imagine it has something to do with that. I've tried cleaning out the vent w/ compressed air and q-tips but this still keeps happening. Anyone know what it wrong or what I should do? Thinking of calling ASUS up tomorrow...hopefully they can do something.

    UPDATE
SO i installed HWmonitor and it says on idle my gpu is at 80 degrees, I'm guessing that is not good as under load I figure it'll go way above 90.

How did you clean it? Unless you opened it up, there might still be a lot of dust collected between the fan and the radiator fins. In that case you should open it up (we have a disassembly guide), remove the fan, and clean that dust with Qtips or whatever you can use. Also clean the fan blades.

Caution: don't remove any heatsinks, that voids warranty. If you can't remove the fan without removing heatsinks, just try to go among the fan blades and clean like that. It's a pain but it helps.

Yeah, to get to the fan it involves taking off the heatsink, but I have brushed each fan blade w/ q-tips and tried blasting some compressed air. Still reaching 96 degrees during gaming and causing it to just shutdown after a while.

Fan blades is an (important) part of it, but I would suggest trying to bend plastic Qtips at a right angle and try getting to the radiator with them, through in-between the fan blades (let me know if this is not clear). I did this with the W7Sg (for which the fan is also unremovable without heatsink removal) and it has made a significant improvement.

Just don't use too much force, you don't want to damage the fan.

Also keep in mind that G1S laptops are usually hot, and 90+ during gaming is not uncommon; but it shouldn't get high enough to cause the computer to shutdown.

It is also possible that the GPU is failing in some way, or the thermal paste/pad has lost its properties; this would require warranty service.
