    Hi all,

After installed the WinXP Pro, and downloaded the "Wireless Console" from Asus Official Web Site on G1 Driver download page and then go to Intel Web Site to the 49XX Wireless Driver ...

I press the "Fn + F2" The Wireless still ON while the "Wireless Console" show that it is OFF, what is wrong?

If I go mobile and using battery, then will soon to lose the power ...

How to force OFF the wirless on XP under G1S?

    Thank

Manually disable it in the device manager.

I have two possible fixes. I actually tried both at the same time, and my wireless console worked properly. I'm not sure which (if not both) contributed to fixing this problem, but I think it was the first.

    1. Install the older version 11 of the Intel Wireless driver/software. This is available at the bottom of the download page for the adapter at Intel's website. Here is a direct link if you have Windows XP Professional.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

    2. Install the ATK0100 driver from the ASUS CD that came with your laptop. Do not install the ATKDRV from the ASUS website. You can use Windows/Microsoft Update to update the ATK0100 driver later.

Finally, the order that I installed these and related drivers is as follows.

    1. ATK0100
    2. WCONSOLE
    3. WIRELESS
    4. BLUETOOTH
    5. ATKOSD2, ATKHOTKEY, ATKMEDIA
    6. Finish the Bluetooth installation by pressing Fn+F2 to toggle the Bluetooth on. Then run Start > Programs > Bluetooth > Bluetooth Settings and you should hear a bunch of hardware connects (assuming you've installed the sound card). Wait for the installation to finish and restart.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the effort, but actually this is a very old thread... so I don't know whether the info is useful to the OPs.
