I DID IT !! i'm not joking !! I'm using forceware 162.50 !! look at atitool default clocks

The clocks are 585 gpu - 1166 shader and 825 mem since riva tuner does not show the gpu and shader real clocks

I used ami bios module extractor to extract the gpu module and edited the gpu rom with nibitor 3.4a. Reinserted the module and flashed with winflash. no more overclock drivers problems

final vbios - gpu 560 - shader 1200 - mem 800. Atitool burn-in is not stable above that clocks

    3dmark was run @ 1024x768

atitool, believe me or not, gave me the most high temp, 90º. While gaming, it's around 85.

Now, my next step is to try and extract only the acpi from the g2s bios and make the 50% cpu performance go away on the g1s. But that's more dificult because I do not have anyway of gessing the acpi modules :S

EDIT - nop, the acpi module is built in on a non editable part of the bios that i do not have knowledge to play with it. We have to wait for asus to fix it

Does this mean you altered the identification of the GPU in the BIOS so that it now appears to be a desktop card and can use the standard Nvidia driver releases without a custom .inf file from places like laptopvideo2go.com?

If yes, does this mean you will have to modify each new Asus bios to retain your modifications?

Also, can you share you modified bios?

    Thanks,
    Ira

no, i only altered the gpu clocks, not the ID, nothing more. You have to continue to change inf normally. And yes, every new bios from asus i need to modify.

share the bios hmmm, yes, but only when i'm shure that it's 100% stable

    Update. final 100% stable clocks are 570 - 1180 - 800 .

    3dmark 2006 @ 1024*768 - 5830
    3dmark 2005 @ 1024*768 - 9952

Drivers 162.18 where the best for me.

Don't believe the 8600m gt in the dell will be able to do this. These results were achieved with a g1s that has a GDDR3 8600m gt, not the DDR2 8600m gt that the dell 1520 has.

Your Inspiron will not be able to achieve this because it runs on a 8600GT GDDR2, whereas the G1S is running a 8600GT GDDR3, which has a 75% higher clock speed (400Mhz vs 700Mhz).

So you did not overclock from within ATITool? Can you tell us in brief what you did with the BIOS in that case?

I just wonder. How can you get so high score?

I have clocked my card higher than yours.

Is it because you use desktopdrivers?

yes there a difference but not that much :S id' say 5500 @ 1024x768. But be carefull because @ 600 gpu the shaders are above 1200 mhz and that's a bit high.

the problem is that i'm using drivers 163.44 and you can't oc with then via driver-level. Vista really needs better drivers and the sp1. I'm waiting for it
