I have a new Asus K55A that is less than a month old. I have not been using it yet regularly but today I noticed on one of the reboots the fan running for a few minutes. I understand laptops have fans but usually they are so quiet I never noticed them before. Is this something I should be concerned about to have me consider return or is it normal?

    Thanks.

the fan spins according to the CPU/GPU temperature. Cold boot and warm boot will have different temperature so the fan speed may vary.

That along with how well ventilated the machine is, you can try propping the back of the machine up, also your room temperature will change how it behaves.

You can monitor your temperatures for assurance if you like by using HWInfo. Unless the fan is acting erratic - which you will probably be able to tell - then chances are there isn't anything to worry about.

Over time you will want to do general maintenance on it and clean the heatsinks, but at less than a month old your atmosphere would have to be really bad for that to kick in just yet :p
