Well, i have two issues right now with my F8SV speakers but both are software related.

    1. Is there a preamp available for vista?

In xp, i used realtek to up audio volume, but the realtek drivers on vista dont even allow premping to happen, there are several set ups but all for the same volume

    2. Why is there a built in audio compressor on this computer?

I noticed this when i tried preamping in both media player and winamp, the audio doesnt go above a certain point. So, not only are the speaker lower than what i would like when playing music, but the fact that the audio is jumping up and down annoys the hell out of me.

Just for those who dont what know i mean by compressor, what it does is keep audio output from reaching a certain decibel range, so it literally turns audio down for a breif second when the sound is to loud. It becomes really noticeable when blasting music.

I know that this is for the better of my pc speakers, but just like i disable uac, id love to take control of what i destroy by mistake or purpose.

I noticed a volume setting in the BIOS when I was trying to save Windows' unworthy arse, but I didn't dare play with it. Could be worth a look for any brave souls out there :)

I think that's just the default volume upon starting up the computer, but I might be wrong.

That setting in the bios changes system sounds, like error beeps and that asus chime during startup

Im surprised no one knows anything about this, im wonder what software is messing with my audio....

not very loud IMO, but they are clear, its about what you would expect from a laptop

And for some reason of another, i when back and reset everything in my msconfig, and everything went back to normal, atleast i think that was it, either way it goes, things sound louder now as opposed to when i started this thread.
