I have been hearing some pretty bad things about 1440x900 screens in my research. Anyone know how this one looks?

I hear that the WUXGA one is pretty nice, but I don't need that resolution, and I don't want to pay that much... so I want to go with the WXGA or WXGA+. Any opinions on those?

WUXGA isn't available on any 15" Asus. It's WSXGA+ which you can get. WXGA is pathetic. Go for as high a resolution as you are comfortable with.

I prefer lower resolutions... my question is about actual screen quality. Not resolution.

That being the case, you'll have to wait until someone has the particular model. Or maybe some of the resellers here on the forum can help you out.

Could you be more specific please. I am considering the F3SV-A1 over the B1, because I am worried that the resolution of the B1 is too high.

f3sv-a1 is a wxga+ 1440x900 actually turned out to bevery good. most 15.4" in the same size are good. i have not seen 15.4" in the same res from asus prior to the f3sv. My video will be up in the sticky section soon. good angles and good screen overall.

Eddie, you mind running 3dmark06 on there at 1024x768 and 1280x1024? Curious to see the results.

The screen looks rather dim in those images. Would you say that this is true?

Thank you very much. Now I really don't know what to do. 8600GS is a tad too weak for it to be even called an upgrade from 7700, but I've also waited SO long for directx 10 that I can't bring myself to just walk in and pick up an A8Js... and apparently the F3 series has fairly bad build quality (cheap plastic ...) Aye..

you can NOT get any thing from those pics other then benchmarks. The videos that i make in the asus sticky section do show some quality of the lcds, like view angles, brightness (hard to predict becuase the ambient light varies), resolution, size, but never the actual quality. some people are very picky eaters when it comes to the lcd. only in person review can tell quality

I don't think you can. You can preview a G1 at best buy though.

...what are you trying to imply? There are many other resellers who sell the F3SV-A1.
