I know neither of them is out yet (though the F3Jm willl be soon....), but I'm wondering whether it is worth the extra $500 or so for the v1j. (speculation that the v1j will be between 2000 and 2100 dollars). I know the V1j has a higher res screen and a faster processor (probably merom?), plus the modular bay and a docking station. is there anything else that it has to make it more attractive?

The V1j is my current first choice assuming it comes out sometime in september-early october.

    Thanks!

It's amazing to have a comparison thread that doesn't have the usual culprits! Huzzah, I say to you! Huzzah!

To me anyhow the V1J is one of the best looking laptops on or soon to be on the market. I'm also holding off on purchasing something until I hear on a US release date for the V1J and F3Jm. If they aren't released soon or have heat problems then I'll end up picking between the Sager 6630 and Compal HEL80/81. Keeping my fingers crossed that the V1J comes out soon w/no heat issues, and good battery life though, it would be perfect then!

currently the z96j with 9cell can hit 5..so it should do at least that with the modular battery if not more..of course if one were to purchase such a beast you'd have to get the mod battery/hd kit/docking station and end up with a huge hole in the wallet

I would expect the V1 to be a lot more expensive than the F3J, but it does justify it's price with it's sexy looks and great specs. So really, it depends on how much are you willing to spend

I would also assume the V1 would use more "higher" quality materials. Though, I don't know where the F series stands amongst the asus line. But, the V line uses the best materials. Plus, it security feature i.e. fingerprint. It reminds me of the comparison of the W3J and A8JM. And, I bet it will be something on that line.

I've heard, but it cannot confirm it though, that the F3J's building quality is much worse than that of the V1J. The V1 will be available in Dutch stores on Monday next week, and the F3J is already available.

I'll check some German and Dutch sites to see if I can find any reviews of the F3J.
