    Hello,

A few months ago a small bubble appeared under my screen on the taskbar. I tried pushing it out, but it kept coming back. Then another small bubble near it formed. Then they both combined to form a larger bubble. Ever since then, the bubble has been steadily increasing in size. It is a hardware issue, as this bubble is still there when the laptop is off. Since it's appearance, I have tried pushing the bubble out with my fingers, using a blowdryer, and pushing the screen back, but nothing seems to work (or it will make the bubble even bigger).

The bubble doesn't actually affect laptop performance at all. I can still use the touchscreen in that area and I can still see the desktop underneath, but I fear that it will just continue to grow until it becomes this unsightly blob on my laptop. It seems like my only option now is to do a screen replacement, but I am hoping there is a less costly solution, as I am in a country where the replacement will cost a lot of money to import. Has anyone had any success getting rid of this bubble? I don't have any experience disassembling the screen, but it seems to me like the issue may be resolved by just taking the screen apart and pushing the bubble out?

Attached are some photos of the offending bubble. Sorry I can't quite capture it because this screen is so damn reflective, but it is the air bubble in the middle of the picture.

I'm really sorry if this issue has been posted, but I have scoured these forums, Google, Youtube, and a bunch of other forums looking for a solution to this problem to no avail. It doesn't seem like this is a very common problem, but I hope someone can help me anyways.

    Thank you for your help!

I'm not seeing any other option here then sending it back to ASUS and have them replace it. It seems to me that the bubble is between the LCD and the touch screen.

Thanks for your speedy reply. That is what I feared. My laptop is well without the warranty and even sending it out of country from here (Southeast Asia) will cost a fortune. I may just have to replace the screen myself. Thanks again.

Yeah it's a bubble between the digitizer glass and the LCD. Probably a problem with the seal around the glass, but replacing it will not be easy. You can usually get the first layer off with a large suction cup, flat plastic tool (or guitar pick) and a hairdryer, but it will be at extreme risk to damaging the LCD and generally produces a lot of broken glass. You won't simply be able to push the bubble out, since the digitizer is made of hard glass. If the screen layers are even serviceable, it would involve replacing at the very least the digitizer glass and sealing it. This is not an easy job. You would be best off trying to find a qualified local repair shop or just replacing the entire screen assembly.

The bubble doesn't affect the touch screen or performance, it's just a cosmetic issue. Sounds like I am better off just leaving it be. I'm wondering though if there is any way to stop the bubble from spreading or if I am just doomed to have a gigantic bubble on the screen eventually. Thanks for your insight!

It's hard to say. If it's from a bad glue sealing job it may grow. If it's from some sort of chassis flex or warping it shouldn't get worse unless the bending gets worse.

Yeah, I think I'll just leave it be and hope it doesn't get too bad. Thanks again!
