I'm thinking of getting an EEEPC 1000H but I'm wondering if it'd really be better for me than the 901. I also hear it's kind of bulky and the keyboard is noisy compared to the other 10" models.

Not sure where you heard that info but I say it is false.

The 1000H is the same size as the other normal 10" models, there are some smaller style focus mdoels like the 1002HA or S101 but they lose battery life to reduce the size and cost more.

There is no keyboard noise, and the keyboard alone is the biggest reason to update IMO from a 901 because you cant really type on the 9" models keyboards like normal, you have to "peck" type. The 1000H is perfectly capable of being typed on at full speed after a days worth of use, and usable at almost full speed after just a few minutes.

Actually strange enough according to our type test poll on eeeuser forums many people had faster type speeds on there 1000H than they did there desktop or full size notebook.

Probably because the keys are closer to together, but not so close as to be uncomfortable. You don't have to dance around the keyboard like you do with a fullsizer.

I guess a 10 inch netbook would be a great choice then since I probably will end up writing books or some such e on it.

I second the 1000H. I have had mine for a couple months now and love it. I use it every other day for in-class notes or around campus activities. I love the 6-cell battery as it is great for a day unplugged. I have played around on a typing speed website (name escapes me at the moment) and I type 70-80 WPM on my G2S/Dell desktop keyboards and I type 60-70 WPM on my EEE. Both were tested multiple times using different entries as well as I had no prior warm-up time. My suggestion is that you do in fact want to type, go with a 10". The 1000H is a great budget machine atm. The 1000HE is the same except for a bit more battery time and chiclet keyboard as the major changes that the user will notice.

The EEE can also be overclocked under warrenty. It comes with a program to do this. However the EEE's internal GMA is clocked higher than the Wind and this is something you can not overclock. This leads to better performance in 3d apps one of the weak spots of the netbooks currently for any brand so may as well go for the best one.

We actually have programs just for the EEE to overclock it higher than the stock program & the Winds and its use will not void your warranty ether.

I type close to 110WPM... it'll be interesting to see how fast I can get on an EEE.

There may be some retailers in the UK that sell them.
