Sorry for this absolutely trivial question, but since I cannot set my eyes on one before ordering, I need to know....
Does the V6j have the large Asus logo across the lid on the front? Some pics I see have it, some don't.
    Just curious.....

The V6 series doesn't, the ASUS logo is at the top right corner, near the right hinge.

Most pics I've seen seem to agree with you, except for this one... [IMG]

I've seen a V6va in person (one of my friends owns one) and the symbol is at the top-right corner of the notebook lid when closed - I'm pretty sure the V6j carries on this "tradition". Aster - interesting picture, but I'm pretty sure the V6j doesn't have its symbol in the middle of the lid.

Perhaps Justin could answer this since proportable.com carries this picture.
I haven't seen any member reviews of the v6j; maybe I should just order one and do the honors myself :)

I actually consider this a pretty good question, since the source of the confusion came from what is supposedly the source of the most accurate Asus information.

    Makes one go hmmm....

Glad that is now clarified as I was wondering the same but was afraid to ask for fear of reprisal.

    Clarified? It is?
Was afraid of getting flamed for my question too, but if I'm gonna drop 2K on something I've never seen before, I need to know what to expect.

    Aster,

I am sorry, I thought it was resolved that the pic on Proportable's site was incorrect. Could be my error.

I have to agree, but sadly, sometimes the fear of being flamed or attacked exceeds the positive of the great info provided on these forums.

I too intend to spend approx $2k on a laptop soon. I was looking for a retailer from this forum to make the purchase, but am still looking. Good luck and let us all know how you like what you get and where you got it.

    Seb,

    Thanks for clearing that up!
How are you liking your V6J so far? Besides the LCD problems you posted about?
    Have you posted a review?

    TIA

That picture particular picture is of a preproduction V6v.. it's a year old, but still a good shot of the system. There wasn't a shot from the front that looked that good so it was still used, but the asus logo on that particular model is small and down in the corner.

I believe I actually still have a couple of those lids in inventory.... it's the same type look as the W1/W2/W3

    Seb,
Good jod at clarifying. I love resolved issues. The small logo makes that computer look very professional.

    Justin,
Thanks for the clarification in a format that was pleasant and not removed from the thread.

I went in and PS'd that photo afterall..... like I said, that's one of those photos that have been up since this time last year when the advanced orders for the old V6v went up. It's never been brought up before, but that's why you use all available photographs to see what something looks like.... but the location of the logo isn't exactly what they're there for in the first place.

Well that really would suck.... but Asus in AU has really not affiliation with Asus in the US..... or anywhere else. They all are semi tied to Taiwan, but effectively, they're all seperate companies with seperate corporate names.... they all have Asus in them, but it's almost as if they just pay for the name.. like a francise or something. Asus US, I know... buys from Taiwan. They pay for their order and it's built and shipped... Taiwan does little to support them and if Taiwan screws up an order, which they are known to do... it's tough... the US just has to sell what they received.... It's really a great position to be in if you're Tiawan.... but Taiwan isn't responsible for the actions of any other office, and they're so seperate that it's not even funny..... So in AU, for all I know, they could out source their support....... or it could be one guy in a dorm room helping inbetween parties.... you never know.....

Yeah they do outsource their support...the techies in the outsourced company really need some CRM courses. They ain't know how to talk to customers. If i ever get my lappy back, i gonna complain to ASUS AU...

You might be better sending an email. Either way, go to www.usa.asus.com and then go to the support or contact us link. You should find the info either way.
