The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

I know I'm a Notebook Review junkie and I don't want to pull anyone away from here, but a member of this forum has started a dedicated forum for other Z71v owners like himself. I was asked to moderate the forum and for the time being at least... while they're small, I think I can manage to help them out. I'm sure they think my stamp of approval is really going to help their membership... so don't let them down :p Other than that, I have absolutely no affiliation with them and the only contact I have with them was an email offer to help moderate the place...... It's a place he put together because he found it difficult to get a lot of detailed information concerning just this product... so check it out and see if you can help.

This forum will include such things as installation help, upgrades, accessories....... gaming... benchmarks... use with linux.... drivers and software and finally, technical issues.

This site has the potential of being very informative for an even smaller niche market........ I encourage all Z71v owners to go over there and contribute what you can so they can really get their database going.

... gotta do what ya gotta do, I guess. If you search and search and can't find what you really need, you make it. That's the AMERICAN way... lol. I guess it's that way or just sit on your butt and complain about it..... yeah that sounds more accurate, unfortunately.

actually, Bryan, the guy who started the Z71 forum, is planning to extend it to a "built on Asus" forum to encourage more participation.

The simple answer to that is... I guess people will still have them, right? Since people will stop talking about it, this guy will have a wealth of knowledge and there will still be others out there seeking this info out.......

By then the guy will probably have a new notebook and set up a forum for that one too... who knows.....

By the way Eddie... it's bad enough putting our emails and 800 numbers in our sigs as far spam goes....... but your cell? You know that's just opening the door spammers with both voice, text and email to your cell, right? You may think the last one... about email to your phone seems off, but if you do a search for your phone number, they can find the carrier you have and therefore easily figure out the common email extension and email your phone...... I'm only mentioning this because I care... and I had a friend that got his cell number in an online forum somewhere and so much of this happened that he had to go through the trouble of changing his number.

Never found it a problem to list my cell on the site. So far knock on wood i get no hate or spam mail to my phone. I think i am fairly safe with that. Worst case scnario i can turn off the text messaging option from cingular.
