Does anyone know if the ASUS Z71V is backwards compatible with DDR1 RAM? Because DDR2 ram is a bit expensive for me and I'd rather get DDR1, but I don't want to get it and have it not work.

Remember the good old days when you didn't need a video card to play games?

    YES,

Provided you put both slots with DDR1.

I don't know where you're looking..... but DDR333 and DDR2 533 aren't that far apart price wise. Unless you're looking at some generic stuff..... and maybe looking to get 2 x 1gb or something..... But Corsair ddr333 and ddr2 533 in say a 512mb stick... is probably within $10 of each other.

    Thanks,
    Justin
