I recently bought an Asus U46E and have run into a weird issue with its processor. After turning on the computer everything runs smooth and fine changing multipliers as needed. After a few hours though it down clocks to an 8x multiplier which leaves it at 800mhz and won't move back up. I've used throttlestop to monitor the cpu frequency and it's definitely not heat related, so I'm really not sure what's going on. This is plugged in with the power settings on performance and I manually set min/max processor speed to 100%.

This is an annoying problem since I basically have to restart my computer every hour or two because it becomes unbearably slow. If anyone has any ideas that would help me fix this I'd appreciate it.

Sounds like the throttling the SW's have. Even if its not heat related, just use Throttlestop to force turbo mode for now, while ASUS works on it

I actually caused this to happen when switching profiles multiple times very quickly in Throttlestop. I had to reboot to get the speed back. If you have that Asus Power4Gear program installed, it could be causing it as well. I have it working properly in conjunction with Throttlestop on my laptop, though.
