I have a new ASUS G75. In the owner's manual it says:

Huh? I've never heard of such a thing. Why would it matter which plug is inserted first?

..I don't know. I'm starting to wonder if Asus support is taking some practical joke too far. Trying to see how much they'll get away with before people catch on to it, or something.

I see where you're coming from, their CS has been going downhill for a while as far as i can tell. Anyways, i've plugged my Ac adapter in almost every imaginable order and never had any problems with any of my notebooks.

I have had sparks at laptop power port in the past if power brick has been live.
The following has been listed in a couple of my laptop directions in the past.
    To plug in power.
    1. Plug into back of computer.
    2. Plug power cord into wall.
    3. Plug power cord into power brick.
Reverse order to remove from power.

..so.. they've installed a regulator relay that can't deal with 19v? And think connecting the same output from... the other side of the cable.. is going to avoid a power-surge..?

    *sigh*
