Yea.. I went and got updated audio drivers that apparently aren't the most recent according to driver agents site, but never the less I thought anything more recent than whats been sitting on asus's site has to be better right?

Well even with the old stuff and the stuff I grabbed I still can't get my microphone(s) (the ones built into the c90s) to work.. I also can't record any other sound whatsoever.

I'm going nuts trying to find better drivers/software for this laptop.

Someone know anything about this issue and where I can find ALL the other drivers while we're at it? you know, newer more recent ones? without referring me back to the asus site which if you didn't pay attention does NOT have updated drivers what so ever.. infact all they DID update was the user manual.

Oh and one more thing.. has anyone found out about the tv card and blue ray drive that was suppposed to come out at some point??

The Blu Ray drives for C90-S are already out, according to a quick google search for c90s blu ray. Not the best pricing yet, but there you go.
I have my own personal doubts as to whether Asus themselves would ever put out a TV tuner for North American NTSC digital terrestrial broadcasts. But anything is possible?

Drivers get from realteks page, those are the newest ones. However I have had no issues with the stock drivers or the new ones.

    Here is the link:

The on board sound for the c90 is very nice.

As for your issue tho its going to be setup or hardware related probably. Lots of things can take over your microphone by default like a webcam with a built in mic, or a headset. Also you have to have it adjusted correctly, even with max +boost and gain I found the built in mics were not sensitive enough for me I had to yell at my laptop :/ so I much prefer a headset mic. Walmart has some for like 5$

Well.. I'd understand the "take over" part if it was registering as "existant".

If I go to control panel etc etc.. sound blah blah.. the areas are grey'd out.

    Any ideas?

if its grayed then its not being detected, so its not the drivers (if it were bad drivers you should get a exclamation point or something saying the device is there but not working properly)

The only time I had anything similar happen to me was with my onboard sound for my desktop, it had a module I had to plug on to the mobo, the connection was not good tho so after trying a billion and one software fixes like new/old drivers, registry edits ect. I just for the heck of it wiggled the module around really good and reseated it to see it worked finally, it was a bad connection with the hardware.

Hard to track down stuff like that, and I have no idea how to fix this if you have the same issue and its just not connected somehow.

"Not enough memory available to complete this operation. Quit one or more applications to increase available memory, and then try again"

Maybe your right but how do I do this? Nothings open when I try to use sound recorder =/

    Edit:

Ok I guess i'm just dumb here or something, I guess I can't record "whats playing" into a wav file I could convert into mp3 format.

Sigh.. still would be nice to know about the msg I posted above.
