I live in Sweden and I'm planning to buy a W3V. But if get it in Sweden(with swedish keyboard) it cost about $200 more then if I get it from UK or Germany!

So I'm wondering if there is a way to buy a Swedish keyboard for the W3V seperatly and just change it myself? And also, if this would void my warranty?

The W3V has got global warranty so even if I buy form UK or Germany I get 2(?) years of direct-to-ASUS warranty no mather which store I get it from, correct?

PS. Could people who bought from different EU contries(UK,Germany,Austria,Belgium, etc.) post pictures of their keyboards so I can see the difference from the traditional swedish keyboard layout?

You're going to have to get that keyboard from the swedish office of Asus..... Changing the keyboard isn't going to void your warranty, but you might want to put the original keyboard on there just incase they need to work on your computer and can't make sense of the keys.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I just mailed the nordic sales representative about it, thanks!

You didn't answer my other question about the warranty. If I buy it in another EU country. Will I have to send it back to the store in the country or just send it to ASUS Sweden, just as I would have to do if I bought it here in Sweden?

i have a somewhat similar problem. i bought a w3v at the local dealer
which came with a german keyboard, but i want the US keyboard now.

we do have shops around here offering the US keyboard, but for quite
    insane prices (like 150$)
so.. does anyone maybe know a US dealer that would ship the keyboard to
    europe for a reasonable price?

Hi, I am from italy and I had the same problem (ok, I wanted the italian keyboard, not the swedish...) and I solved it buying the W3N here: notebookshop.de. You can customize your notebook (keyboard, hard disk, ram, etc). They are very kind and affordable.

Now that's some info I can use! Thanks!

They even have the W3V with Swedish(and italian) keyboard! Why didn't you get the W3V? To pricey?

EDIT: What did the shipping cost? And what shipping/payment mehod did use? And how is the warranty coverage when alerting the keyboard(and porhaps a HD)? Do you have to send it it them? Or directly to Asus?

I choose the W3N because I prefer Dothan to Sonoma: it costs 250 euros less (!!!), the battery lasts 15 mins. more, the ram is cheaper (and with better latency values) and the performances are the same.
    So why buy a Sonoma???

    The shipping cost: 29 euros.
I payed with a bank transfer.
The warranty is european, so you can send it in Sweden. Only if you have problems with the HD you have to send the notebook in Germany.
The italian keyboard wasn't available, and they will send it to me in two weeks without paying anything (I needed the notebook soon).

    Bye,
    Palinus

PS Sorry for my bad english...

Wow this wan an old thread you dugg up..

I actually just bought the W3V here in Sweden with Swedish keyboard. But I know that there are stickers you can buy on e-bay(or whatever you use in Finland) to just stick on the keyboard with swedish characters. So you may want to check that out..?

You could use a friend in the US to order a US-layout keyboard from the ASUS estore. Or you can contact the ASUS service center in your country, see if you can order the keyboard from them.

More elegant solution than the stickers. :)
