Thinking about purchasing one of these laptops, which are
a8jm or a8js. I heard the brightness on the a8js lcd is very bad.
    Is this true?
How does the a8js lcd compare to the a8jm?
I currently have a vaio k45 3gh laptop and the lcd is veryy bright.
I dont want to move to something that is not gonna be alteast bright as my old laptop at full brightness!

    Let me hear your imputs!
    Thank You

    they are exactly the same

    220 nits. extremely bright.

find the nits on the lcd model in your machine and you will have a comparison. I would bet yours is 200 nits .

Nobody has complained that the a8jm or a8js screen is not bright enough because if they did we would know they dont know what they are talking about.

    They are both extremely bright.

people complain about the viewing angle which is shorter than the average.

Actually, it's surprising you or anyone could give a precise "220 nits" without any formal measurements..... because Asus (like all other notebook companies) never give exact brightness or contrast ratios on their notebook screens. The W3 is a bit brighter at it's highest, but it's not going to effect many people at all. the A8js has a higher res screen - but the W3jp's screen is still a higher end panel.... one of the only benefits there is a slightly stronger backlight.

... but as said above, both are very bright.

the lcd manufacturers give exact stats

the manufacturer of the w3j screen is cmo

somewhere on the forums the exact stats are printed. Ive looked them up here at nbr about 5 times and I dont feel like doing it again.

    both are rated 220 nits

since you have access to so many notebooks justin, you could use everest and tell us the model number of each one, and all of that data could be posted on this forum.

the model used in each notebook is available online from the manufacturer. No such secret as you are describing, all notebooks have an lcd model and you just look em up, all the stats are there

I will have to go check out these laptops before i purchase them! I will be ordering them from online, so,i need to get all the questions answered before ordering them!
I am not really worried about the viewing angle because its a 14.1 lcd and i dont think ill be using it as a tv or anything else..maybe once in a while dvd watching but thats straight at it, no angle viewing...
    Thanks

Im not even exactly sure what the stats of viewing angle describe. however the stats of the a8js viewing angle are very small compared to others.
