    Bricked my Asus N73SV

    Today I got a new ssd drive to install in my N73SV. I opened my laptop and tried to install it in the empty slot. It didn't work and eventually I found out the whole slot was just broken.

    I then found this post http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/573866-installed-second-hd-n73sv-help.html#post7426809 which said that you need a bios upgrade for your N73SV to recognise the second harddisk.

    I went ahead and downloaded the newest bios from the Asus website (I filled in my laptop serial number so it had to be the right one), then I started easyflash and selected the bios. It gave me a message "Model number doesn't match" but stupid as I was I thought it'd be ok because the asus website told me this was the right one.

    The bios started updating and everything went fine until the 4th red bar got to 100%. My notebook just died. It turned off and now I can't do anything with it anymore. It doesn't start, it doesn't even show the battery light when I put in the plug. It's like a complete brick. I'm planning to call Asus tomorrow to help me but I thought maybe people here know something I could do.

    Assuming this model follows the usual convention when it comes to sata connectors (soldered directly on the motherboard - some though are cabled) they may replace the motherboard under warranty, not only solving your issue with the bricked motherboard but also the broken connector :thumbsup:

    Its almost 1.5 years old and it had 24 months warranty when i bought it so i guess this should be fine

    Yeah, send it in, you updated the BIOS while having an issue, it's not your fault.
