I've searched a few threads about this, but I'm not finding too many answers.

I really would like to know which laptop coolers you fellow G1S owners have used to cool it down, as well as keeping the heat from your legs/etc when sitting it there.

Typically when I use the laptop in a chair or lying down it gets very hot, so I set it to Battery Saving Mode (with AC connected) so it won't generate as much heat. But it would be great to have it set to high performance and not worry about the heat making me uncomfortable.

Hopefully you guys have some great suggestions. Thanks!

are you using any kind of lap desk? if not, remember, the G1S has its air intake on the bottom of the machine. If the computer's sitting on your lap/in your bed, you may be blocking the airflow with your soft comfy sheets or your legs. Something as simple as a $5 lap desk from walmart will help the cooling if this is the case by allowing some ventilation.

Yeah I'm definitely blocking the intake when it's on my lap, so I'd like to change that.

Do you have any recommendation on which lap desk to buy?

Obviously I wouldn't have a lap desk plus a laptop cooler. If possible I'd like something that would function as both properly. But even a lap desk to prevent the heat from touching my body and keeping the intake unblocked would be great.

Hopefully if I find one it will match the laptop, and not be too bulky and especially not heavy (the laptop is heavy enough as it is lol).

A few that I would reccomend you look into would be the Thermaltake Taichi M+ the Zalman Cooler and the Lian Li cooler. All have gotten great reviews and appear to drop temps as much as 10 degrees

if you only want the lap desk, anything firm and flat will do. Even a sheet of stiff plastic, if you're so inclined.

Personally, I'm looking for something that I can sit on my lap that will act as a cooler. I'm thinking about modding my Targus Coolmat to have the fans blow up instead of suck.

    Experts of the forum... suggestions?

Thanks for all the recommendations guys. There is one I've found that is very appealing, and cheap. It's the Thermaltake iXoft Notebook Cooler.

It's not a "cooler" persay, but it's a pad designed to prevent heat from hitting the body, and help dissipate the heat. It's also very light, and very flexible. Plus it doesn't require any power so my battery life won't be affected, since I have so little with the G1S to begin with lol.

Hopefully you guys can tell me your thoughts on this before I purchase it.

Haha that looks pretty awesome! Since there are high and low points on the mat it should in theory not block the airflow.

The zalman is amazing. It has dropped all my temps down by 10C. Take the Zalman and your G1S into an ACed room and watch the temps drop another 15C. It is worth every fraction of every penny. Also, it's pretty quiet and provides a nice tilt.

The Vantec Lapcool4 also pushes air into the bottom of the G1S (and has a USB hub, which was my deciding factor)... it won't work too well on your legs, though. Not sure of numerical temperature drops, since I got the cooler the same day as the laptop, but it seems to be working. Switching from desk to my lap doesn't produce any blistering at all :)

I have the G2S-A1 and I love the Xpad. I got it off ebay for alot less than the website, keeps my lap cool its passive and works pretty well. If it fits the G2 it will def fit the G1

Is the Zalman comfortable on your lap? It looks like the top edge might cut into your legs.

Thanks a ton man! NCIX doesn't have the mail-in-rebate for the black one, plus the shipping charge on that item is ridiculous.

I have the thermaltake ixoft and it does pretty well for me. I can leave my computer on all day and be fine, and it handles the heat pretty well for working on your lap. It's also flexible so it's pretty easy to store.

Hey guys I purchased the Thermaltake I-Xoft from a local shop and it's amazing. Now I have have it running in High Performance mode without making my legs burn, before I had to leave it on Battery Saving mode whenever it was on my lap.

It even absorbs so much that the bottom of the laptop is luke warm when without the cooling pad it would be burning hot.

It doesn't really lower the temperatures though, but I wasn't really looking for that, especially when I need to preserve battery life.
