I am using an ASUS v1jp. I use the laptop till like 50percent, then suddenly, i get a low battery warning, what the hell is this? it said 1hr and 30mins left on the batt then it suddenly plunges down to 7min. It makes no sense, is it battery fault or? Now i am charging it, and it goes up really slowly. The thing is, i bought this notebook 5mths ago, and never really used my batt below 50 until yesterday, whats the problem??

there are a ton of threads about the v1j battery issue and I think a lot of people were having the same problem as you. Try checking out the v1j owners lounge thats in here somewhere

Just finished a batt calibration. From the everest tool, i have 8percent wear, after 5mths of usage. Designed capicity is 75900 and fully charged is 69330. Is this normal?

Has anyone rectified the problem yet? Or has anyone updated the bios on your v1jp to solve your problem?

Search for MysticGolems's thread on the issue.

Asus has yet to offer a solution for any of the computers with this issue. 8% is nothing to worry about. When you have something like 40% after 2 months, you should worry. Search for mystic's thread, and learn more about this issue.

It should be, since Asus hasn't releasd any fix for this yet.

Yep, I confirm this is the dreaded abnormal battery wear issue that ASUS hasn't fixed yet and probably will never ever fix...

    Ummm...

    1. Discharging the battery to less than about 30-40% on the main battery usually causes the wear.
    2. Doing a recalibration WILL increase the wear because it essentially completely discharges and recharges the battery.
    3. Using the modular battery in conjunction with the main battery avoids this problem to a certain degree, since the modular battery is used first by the system and can be completely discharged without causing any wear.
    4. The VX2 uses the same main battery and also seems to have this problem.
    5. AFAIK, battery has only a 1 year warranty and will set you back a pretty penny for a replacement.

I'm inclined to think the smart chips in these batteries are bad.

Has this problem been seen on the newer models, such as the G1/2S, V1/2S, F3S, etc?

let's hope this problem isn't going to show on the new refreshes or else I might refund it.

I agree, somebody should check if this problem appears on the V1S.
