I'm about to purchase a M6BNe and I'm told that, where I'm getting it from, they will check for dead pixels, so I'm glad. But if I do find one, or a few, god forbid, dead pixels that show up in lets say, 7 months(I'll have a 1 year warranty), how many would it take for Asus to replace the screen?

And how do dead pixel's show up. Do they just burn out all of a sudden? I searched around but didn't find the answer. I know there is a topic about that but I can't seem to find it.

    Thanks

    Coriolis,

Our pixel policy is idenical to Asus'.. so you can read about it here: http://www.proportable.com/support.htm

You'll need 3 or more bad pixels to have the screen covered under warranty, which means if two develop, it won't be covered... but you'll be covered for the full two years your own the system.

If you're getting an M6, Asus isn't going to cover anything for you. It all has be taken care of between you and whoever you're getting your system through and it will depend on how they have their warranty set up. I'm just saying that ours is identical to Asus' warranty on the W1/S5... so it's good to look at and understand. In the instance of our company, you would send the notebook in, we'd replace the screen and send it back out to you....

Someone else can try to explain about how they form, but basically each pixel is driven idividually. Instead of the whole screen burning out, you have individual pixels which tend to burn out. Once they are dead, they are gone forever.... however "bright pixels" which are pixels that are lit (red, green, blue, white).... just as bad, but sometimes I've seen those come back to normal.

Hope that hit most of what you were looking for.

    Thanks,
    Justin

I've considered getting it from you guys, but canadasys is just 10 mins walk from my house...

I'm kinda confused with the PP site, a M6BNE at:

    1.6ghz Dothan
    512MB / 60G 5400r 8M Hard Drive
    DVD & CDRW Combo Drive
    64MB ATI Radeon 9700
    Built-in Wireless-G Lan
    15.4” WXGA ( 1280x800 )

how much exactly would that cost? Do you ship to canada though?(dont see it...)

But nice range of accessories, i may be interested in getting a couple of things

Through our site you make build your system and add it to your cart and the complete price would be there.

Didn't know you were from Canada, but we do ship to Canada, just not through our site.

All I was trying to explain to you was the warranty.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Well, you could emails [email protected] or just drop me a line. Because we don't take international credit cards, all international orders are done via wire transfer.

What we'd need to give you shipping costs would be your postal code. We'll give you shipping options (USPS, FedEx) and give you the information needed for completing a wire.

    Thanks,
    Justin
