    Hello,

I recently purchased an Asus N61J series (as in, last week), and it's been treating me great so far! I'm a bit confused as to how to activate the warranty, however. On the warranty card I recieved with my notebook, it says that to start the warranty, I must fill out the card and mail it in to Asus along with my original receipt. This sounds like an extremely unsafe way to do things... if that receipt gets lost in the mail, I'm rather screwed. Can I just mail a photocopy of it? Or activate it online instead? As well, I apparently get a 2-year global warranty as well as a 1-year battery warranty - do these get activated together, or are they separate processes?

    Thanks a lot!

You can register online on Asus website. The warranty should take effect when you register it. As far as I know, the maximum warranty for most region/country is 2 years limited global hardware warranty & 1-year battery pack warranty. It is activated together.

when doing it online you still have to mail in the receipt. when i did it online it said to mail in a photocopy so you dont have to use the original.

Maybe on some country, owner is required to send the receipt. When I registered it online, it didn't remind me to do so. So, better register it online first, preferably access it via Asus website for your country. If after registration it ask you to send a copy of the receipt then send it.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I live in Canada, so I'll just register on the Asus website and go from there. As long as I get to keep my original receipt, I'm happy...
