so i'm pretty set on the g50v-a1 or the m50vm-b1. the price/performance ration on the g50 are godly, but **** that orange color scheme. i went to BB and saw the X-1 in person, and i don't know the orange just doesn't sit well with me. so i think what i've decided is:

    1. if the orange trim on the g50 is removable (so maybe i could paint it), the g50.

    2. if the orange trim isnt, m50.

i'm just a little confused to whether asus has solved these keyboard issues i've been reading about. also some advice would also be appreciated.

The bios update seems to have solved the keyboard lag for most I believe.
As for the orange trim, it's not removable. But I've heard someone repainted theirs without too much trouble.
If gaming is a priority, then the G50 would be better suited for you. On the other hand, the M50 isn't a slouch either. Keep in mind the G50 can house 2 hard drives while the M50 only has one. In terms of size, the G50 has just a slightly larger footprint, but is quite a bit heavier.

it's not that i want something really understated, it's just i don't want to walk into class and whip it out and have people think i'm setting up a nuclear device :p

I think painting over voids the warranty though, so be careful.

the two side LEDs can be turned off, but the logo and the bottom LEDs stay on (they blink in sleep mode)

Also I think the ExpressGate LED never turns off as long as the notebook has power? People were complaining about this on another thread.

Bah... the express gate LED barely takes any energy. In any case, this is not a laptop to keep on battery for any extended length of time.

I really don't mind. It's actually kinda fun when u go into class and whip this laptop out. Will turn heads for sure. I don't recommend this if u go to your average public school (where ppl can be less scrupulous).
