I just ran across the Z92KM at a couple sites and had never heard of it before.
    Here's a link where I found it: z92KM

Two things caught my eye with this machine: First was the GeForce Go 7300 with 256 MB RAM. Second, the price comes in under $1400 with a nice configuration (1 GB RAM, 80 GB HD, DVD burner, bluetooth, etc.). Much lower than other similarly configured Asus models. A comperable Z70va would run over $1700.

Deals which are too good to be true typically are so I thought I'd ask about this notebook here. Is this a lemon? The images are a bit low res but it's not the most attractive model in the Asus line-up. Also, that screen (1200x800) must be part of the lower price.

What's the take on this model? Good or bad?

I believe the Z92KM is built on the A6 chassis.. you can find some reviews here of the A6, such as the A6va. From what others have said.. the A6 is on the "lower end" of the Asus line up.. it's not as sleek as the M6, it's heavier and uses an all plastic design rather than incorporating carbon fiber, which the M6 does in several areas. from other reviews, the A6 has lower battery life than the M6 and the lid is more prone to scratches. The Go 7300 card isn't high end either.. probably around the x600 benchmark, while the Z70va has the higher x700.

not that the A6 is bad either..it's just not the same as the M6 (aka Z70).

You get what you pay for, that is the A6 series is a budget machine, so you get reduced build quality and less high end parts to meet a target price. But that said if you are after a cheap desktop replacement laptop, then this model is a nice choice. You should compare it to other low end models from HP, dell etc.
There were some issues with the older A2 models which the A6 has now replaced. These issues seem to have been resolved, as there havent been to many complaints on this forum about that model, so again if you dont have a lot of cash and want a cheap notebook to get you by, then this is a good choice.

The Z92Km is the US Built on Asus version of the A6Km. I have recently ordered one from c9tech hoping to get it sometime this week.
