It'll be S37S in NA, all Asus Centrino barebones will now be under Intel VBI, we will now only see desktop replacement notebooks from Asus from now.

I found one store states that it has a ETA of Jun 14th, is that true?

That can mean either two things - Geforce 8400M GT or 8600M GS. The two cards are very similar in performance, so it's great to see that performance in a 13.3" laptop.

I think it's actually a 8400M G, which is the lowest level in 8400 series...

Unfortunately, I think NB8M-SE is the 8400M G only. If it is a GT though, this will definitely be my next notebook. Otherwise, it has some competition. It seems like a really sweet notebook though, with the HP like style (except better) and low weight.

Its not supposed to be an ultraportable. Its a performance thin and light, although it is very close to hitting ultraportable weight levels. Thickness is probably the same as the W7J, which is very similar.

No, thickness can't be the same as the W7J, because the Z33/Z35/W7 all used 9.5mm optical drives, and the S37 is a 12.7mm optical drive. It's heavy, huge, and bloated compared to the models before it.

Asus has successfully neutered every single quality that made the M5/Z33 an awesome model out of the follow-up series. Congrats Asus! Great job guys!

I'm also happy to see the complete decimation of the BTO line, which is nothing more then a thinly veiled attempt to put Eddie, Justin, Milestone, and all the other long-time Asus vendors out of business completely. One 15.4 and one 13.3? Give me a break. Margin on the Ensembles can't be anywhere near as good as on the BTO models...

Oh well... I really wanted to buy a second Asus in another year and a half, but it probably won't happen the way the models are looking now.

I thought the stupid VBI program had flopped. Why are they dragging the new models through it? Intel can kiss my ass after the 'no Aero on GMA900' fiasco. Looking at the Intel VBI page, VBI only allows for 12.7 mm optical drives. So ASMobile or whatever the spun-off section is called is letting INTEL drive their product design, instead of designing products based strictly on the market. What a load of BS.

I can see the guys at Intel now - "Our OEM partners are concerned that the ODMs BTO whitebooks are cutting into their sales. They have demanded that we come up with a solution to this problem.... We have such a plan ready, and we call it VBI. We will subvert the ODMs and make sure they agree never to produce truly excellent BTO whitebooks again."

From the spec sheet it looks like it will have Intel Turbo Memory (Robson). :) If it ends up coming with a 8400M GT, the S37S could be a good choice for my next laptop (if Dell and Sony fail to come out with something better). ;)

Robson doesn't do ****. In the Anandtech review of it, it made the system slower in every single test.

Even thought Anand was using an Intel Santa Rosa Development Kit, Intel said it was "the ODMs fault". But if it doesn't do anything in a hand-picked unit supplied by Intel, I doubt there will be any practical performance increase in consumer machines.

Santa Rosa = Marketing Hype, nothing more.

Well, that is if the black comes out. I got an email response saying "you should expect S37S available in September" and "right now it’s saying white, but there might be the option of black". Its too bad Asus is taking so long to release something originally stated for June and I kinda wish it had a 8400GT cause then it would've fitted all been the perfect 13.3" notebook and would've destroyed the xps1330. Oh well.
